Vienna has been a stronghold of the Social Democratic Party for nearly a century. Here, we map recent changes in Vienna’s electoral landscape, using national and city council electoral data. Moreover, we explore the relationship between shares of the votes and patterns of satisfaction with socio-economic, environmental conditions and the City’s service provision through correlation analysis. The findings show that Viennese voters tend to vote differently for national and municipal elections. Although the social-democratic party is still in power, municipal election results show a slight shift in voting patterns, with some inroads from other parties pointing at new incipient political cleavages.
