Migration | Cities | Social Policy | Social Inequality
Developed industrial societies in particular are increasingly confronted with migration processes worldwide. The diversity of forms of migration and socio-cultural diversity characterise this field of research today. The research of the Department focuses in particular on the following topics: socio-structural causes and consequences of migration, labour migration and social inequality, elite migration, socio-cultural diversity, living conditions, integration into various social spheres, identities of the first and second generation, relationships between minorities and members of mainstream society (conflicts, stereotypes, discrimination). Research is based on quantitative and qualitative methods. It examines problems from the point of view of minorities and members of mainstream society and presents findings for interdisciplinary discussion.
