We are welcoming Lisa Bock-Oswald to the Department

Since April 2026, Lisa Bock-Oswald is a pre-doctoral research assistant in the Knowledge and Culture Research Group (Team Michaela Pfadenhauer).

Her doctoral research focuses on so-called 'girl cultures', which she defines as a feminised pop-cultural phenomenon. Lisa Bock-Oswald investigates how specialised bodies of knowledge emerge in these contexts, how belonging is negotiated, and how forms of mediated community building take shape. She is also involved in research and teaching, particularly on issues of social relations and companionship in everyday life, as well as in the field of interpretative social research.

Lisa Bock-Oswald studied Sociology (BA and MA) at the University of Vienna's Department of Sociology. During her studies, she worked as a research project assistant, teaching assistant, and tutor. She has been a lecturer at the University of Vienna since 2022 and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna since 2024. From 2022 to 2025, she was also a project manager and research assistant at ÖSB Social Innovation.
