Visiting PhD Candidate: Kamran Khurshid (01.12.2025-31.03.2026)

We warmly welcome Kamran Khurshid at Team Pfadenhauer!

Kamran Khurshid is a doctoral candidate at the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology (CEU). His research interests include practice theory, communication practices, conversational democracy, and digital media and society.

His doctoral research studies the transformations in online communication environments and discussion practices, particularly in the context of the declining popularity of traditional discussion boards and the rise of social media and networking platforms.

He investigates how the design features of digital platforms, the sociality they foster, and the broader media environment in which they are embedded interact to shape the possibilities for deliberative discussions in these digital spaces, and promote or hinder the conditions for the development of critical thinking and reflexivity among discussion participants.
